Fourth Class Swimming.

Fourth Class were delighted to begin their aquatics strand of the PE Curriculum. They will partake in a five week block of lessons in Clonea Sports and Leisure Centre. These lessons cater for beginners and improvers. A lovely way for the children to spend a school morning.

Scoil Mhuire Tennis Team.

Scoil Mhuire U12 Green Ball Tennis team took part in the Munster Tennis Primary Schools’ Competition on Wednesday February 26th in Fota Resort. The Scoil Mhuire team won this match and will play two more matches against other schools in Munster before hopefully qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition. The team train with their coach Shelly Mernin in Causeway Tennis club and are great ambassadors for Scoil Mhuire both in terms of their tennis and their sporting behaviour to their opponents.  Well done Sarah, Alex C, Ronan M and Alex C. Best of luck in the next round.

Fourth Class Chess Club.

Chess continues to be very popular at Scoil Mhuire and fourth class now have their turn to join the after school chess club. Monday evenings are a busy spot in Mrs. Barry’s room where the children have been taking beginner lessons and some budding improvers are really beginning to shine!

Safer Internet Day.

This month the pupils in every class had informing and comprehensive workshops and lessons on staying safe online. Awareness was raisied about potential and unexpected risks which children may encounter when working or playing online. Safer Internet Day was truly marked in the classrooms and halls of Scoil Mhuire. We are more mindful of our online activity, behaviour and “netiquette”.
