World Book Day 2025.

Thursday, March 6th is the day that the joy of reading books is celebrated all over the world. Creative costumes, smashing stories, cool colouring and satisfying book swaps were some of our ways to mark the value of enjoying books and reading. Many thanks to our Parents’ Association for sponsoring prizes for the junior classes. The children and their families really demonstrated great talent producing great costumes.

Scoil Mhuire Confirmation.

Congratulations to the boys and girls from 6th class who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday March 8th. The candidates have been very busy getting spiritually and practically prepared, under the guidance of Ms Looby and Mr O’ Dea. Everyone was delighted to have our patron and bishop Alphonsus Cullinan officiate the ceremony. Everyone present enjoyed the prayerful hymns which enhanced the service. As always we thank  Fr. Hassett, Sarcisten Eileen, Tony, Grace, Bernie, Mr De Paor and Jenny for their work in making this a lovely day.

Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Bhí seachtain álainn againn i Scoil Mhuire le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge. Bhí ceol agus craic timpeall na háite. Páistí ag baint trial as uirlisí ceoil, tráth na gceist ag Mr. O’Dea sa halla, rannta agus amhránaíocht.  Ceol binn traidisiúnta ó Ms. Fennell agus Mr Pattwell.

Credit Union Quiz.

Congratulations to the two Scoil Mhuire quiz teams who were competitive in the recent Chapter Level of the Credit Union Quiz. We were delighted to learn that our Junior Team were winners on the day and will now progress to the National Final in the RDS on April 9th. Ms Walsh has been very busy helping them to prepare.

We also extend our congratulations to Mya Kiely who achieved 2nd place in the chapter level of the Credit Union Schools Art competition.

School Garden.

Now that Spring is in the air and with fine bright weather the pupils of fifth class have been preparing the soil for our school garden. Seed potatoes have been sprouting in a cool dark place ready for planting. Ms. Evelyn Looby has been sharing her expertise for this wholesome project. We all look forward to tending the crop and reaping a bountiful harvest by Summer.

Third Class trip to the Beach.

Ms. Flahavan and Ms. C. Power’s children had a beautiful fun filled day at the beach this month. They took part in a scavenger hunt, they explored different sections of the beach, built volcano sand castles and learned so much from Tina.

Gymnastics for Senior Classes.

Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes have had their turn to enjoy gymnastics with Kenny from DKAM. These children have become very capable as they have been doing a block of gym every year through primary school. Their knowledge and skills have been improving every year.
