About Our School
Scoil Mhuire is a co educational National School under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Waterford and Lismore. We cater for boys and girls in the parish of Abbeyside and surrounding areas. We are a Catholic School and we welcome pupils of other faiths or none. Our chaplain Fr Ned Hassett is a regular visitor to our classrooms.
Our School is situated in the coastal residential village of Abbeyside, Dungarvan, Co Waterford. We are very proud of our school building and facilities which include modern classrooms each with interactive whiteboards, a sizable school hall with a stage and a large field with playing pitches available for PE, matches and lunchtime.

Pupils in Scoil Mhuire have the best possible start with small classes of 20 pupils or less in the junior and senior infant rooms. Our dedicated special education team strives to support all our pupils through a systematic programme of team teaching in literacy and numeracy. This takes place within the mainstream class setting whereby 2-3 teachers lead learning simultaneously giving all pupils professional attention in small group settings.
Children whose first language is not English will receive a minimum of 2 years extra language support which will aim to bring their English communication in line with their peers.
Scoil Mhuire’s newest addition is the Réalta class which is a state of the art ASD unit catering for 9 children. Where possible these children are integrated into mainstream classrooms during their school day.
