Welcome to our New Junior Infants.
September has been a very fresh and exciting month for all and especially our enthusiastic new Junior Infants. Ms. Power, Ms McCloskey and Mr Cliffe report very good progress from the new boys and girls in settling in and becoming accustomed to their new routines. New friends are being made and every day brings a new learning experience. Children are rather tired from all their efforts by evening time. We also extend a warm welcome to the pupils who joined our school in other classes.

J.B. White Schools Cross Country.
Friday September 20th was the first of our competitive athletics events. 87 pupils from Scoil Mhuire proudly wore the Scoil Mhuire singlet. Although the evening was showery this did not deter the enthusiasm of these hardy athletes. Well done to each of them for completing this testing course in St. Augustine’s grounds. Congratulations to Ciara, Richard, Seamus and Taliah for achieving individual trophies. In addition Scoil Mhuire received the following team prizes.
Second class Girls achieved Team Silver.
Third Class Girls achieved Team Bronze.
Fifth Class Girls achieved Team Silver.
Fifth Class boys achieved Team Silver.
Sixth Class Girls achieved Team Silver.
Sixth class Boys achieved Team Silver.

SNA Appreciation Day.
On September 25th schools across Ireland celebrated the invaluable work done by SNAs everywhere. In Scoil Mhuire we should thank these ladies every single day. They bring support and encouragement to our pupils and deliver this with patience, kindness, creativity and fun. They really endeavour to bring out the best in our pupils.

Cycle Right.
Fifth Class pupils are completing a 5 week cycle safety course. Niall and Aislinn of Cycle Right have been facilitating this on Tuesdays. Pupils have been receiving expert tuition on bicycle safety, safe road usage, rules of the road for cyclists, all aiming towards confident and competent cyclists. What a lovely way to travel to school on a fine Autumn Day.
Scoil Mhuire Junior Wardens.
At Scoil Mhuire we have a long and proud tradition of Junior Traffic Wardens. Some 5th and 6th class pupils are trained prior to taking up these duties. Teams are scheduled to assist our pupils crossing the road at home time. Ms Fraher facilitates the necessary training and scheduling. We would like to thank all road users for complying with their instructions at all times. Well done to our new teams and our experienced 6th class teams.
