Welcome Back.

We at Scoil Mhuire extend a warm welcome to each pupil as they return to us after the summer holidays. We would like to especially welcome our lovely junior infants who are beginning their  journey in education with us. Ms Power, Ms McCloskey and Mr Cliffe are delighted with their new classes. All are settling in really well and having lots of fun.  The junior infants have established a lovely school routine and are making new friends and staying for the full infant day.  They are exploring and learning a lot too!

We would also like to welcome the other new pupils who joined Scoil Mhuire in older classes.

SNA Appreciation Day.

Thursday September 26th marked Irelands first SNA Appreciation day.  To mark the event we are doing a little feature on our fantastic team of ladies who play a vital role in our school.  Bernie, Sue, Elaine R, Ursula, Anne, Grace, Rachel, Claire and Mags always attend to their duties with energy and enthusiasm.  They each bring their own personal and perfect qualities to Scoil Mhuire and they really enhance everybody’s day. They demonstrate patience, kindness, attentiveness, good humour and fun in abundance.  Suffice to say we would be lost without them!

GAA News.

Fifth and sixth class have been enjoying Gaelic Football coaching with Conor Prendergast. The lovely sunny weather gave us  perfect conditions to enjoy our great field.

Meanwhile  Mr O’ Dea, Ms. Lake and Ms. Weldon have been busy training the boys and girls in advance of the upcoming mini 7s and the 15 aside primary school league.

Fergus Features in Croke Park.

Pictured is former pupil Fergus Donnelly who played in the Kerry colours while representing Scoil Mhuire Abbeyside on July 13th in a packed Croke Park.

Fergus played on the hallowed turf of GAA headquarters along with nine other boys from around the country. Scoil Mhuire were allowed to choose one player having won the county Mini 7s before the summer holidays.

Fergus acquitted himself very well on the day and really enjoyed the experience. Maybe he’ll be back there in time in the white and blue of Waterford!

Congratulations Fergus.

J.B. White Schools Cross Country.

West Waterford AC hosted a wonderful athletics event for all schools on Friday September 20th.  Scoil Mhuire brought a strong team of athletes. The sun shone and the Scoil Mhuire children wore their school singlets with pride. Well done to every single child who competed for us. Congratulations to Jude, Joni, Laura E, Sarah M and Isabel who achieved individual prizes. Well done to those who won team medals.

Chromebook Time.

Our use of technology is increasing further this year.  Scoil Mhuire has added to our great resources with the purchase of a set of chromebooks. Senior pupils will enjoy using them for research, presentations and other independent work.

Our school ipads will be in use in the junior classes.

Dungarvan Brass Band.

Scoil Mhuire held its first whole school assembly of the year and were treated to a recital from Dungarvan Brass Band. Pupils and teachers were entertained with some familiar and popular pieces. Some lucky children got an opportunity to try out some of the instruments. We were delighted to welcome back some of our past pupils who are members of Dungarvan Brass Band.
