Scoil Mhuire School Sports.

The boys and girls of all classes in Scoil Mhuire had a fantastic Sports Day on Wednesday June 12th. Mr O’ Dea had planned and prepared a marvellous circuit of novelty races and events for all to enjoy. Mr O’ Dea’s pupils took charge of the stations and ran the event beautifully.

School Litter Pick.

On June 5th the whole school took part in a Summer Litter Pick Up in conjunction with An Taisce. This took place in our school grounds and in our local area which included the Greenway, the beach and the boardwalk. Well done to all involved for the great work that was done.

School Tours.

June is the month when our school tours bring great excitement. Early mornings, bus trips with our friends, picnic lunches and an entertaining venue all add to these memorable primary school trips. World of Bounce, Ardmore Mini Farm, Fota Wildlife Park, SETU Multi Activity Day and Cuskinny Outdoor Adventure Centre, Cobh were the exciting destinations.  All teachers and children reported marvellous days. Teachers also took advantage of the good weather and visited some of Dungarvan’s local attractions like the Greenway, Abbeyside Beach, The Playground, McDonalds, Dungarvan Castle, Cunnigar Pitch and Putt . The following account came in from 6th class school tour.

Both 6th classes travelled to Cushkinny Outdoor Adventure Centre in Cobh where they had a fantastic day of activities including archery, grass sledging, forest obstacle course and the favourite outdoor cooking where pizzas and smores were prepared and cooked on an outdoor open fire. We were lucky with the beautiful weather and the bus was quieter than usual on the way home such was the exhaustion after a great day!

Junior Traffic Wardens.

Congratulations to all our teams of Junior Traffic Wardens whos were awarded their certificates recently. Ms. Fraher has ensured each member of each team performed their duty to a high standard. Scoil Mhuire has a very strong tradition of this service which provides them with an experience of great responsibility.

Stem Award. Gold Standard.

All the pupils had an opportunity to celebrate our recent achievement with the Science Foundation of Ireland, Curious Minds Gold Award. The SFI held a fantastic online ceremony where we enjoyed our award and had an opportunity to view the exciting things other schools tried. Our recent award will feature in the school corridor very soon. Our photo shows representatives from the various classes who were involved.

Farewell to the Class of '24.

We would like to congratulate Ms. Looby and Mr O’ Dea’s 6th class who graduated from primary school this week. Each of these pupils has contributed to our school in their own unique way. We are very proud of the individuals they have become and we would like to wish them every success in their new secondary schools.
