Allianz Mini 7s win for Scoil Mhuire.

Our boys’ football team were crowned Allianz Mini 7’s football County Champions at Mount Sion GAA grounds on Thursday after a fantastic and spirited display against a very good Holy Cross,Tramore team who fought to the end.

Our boys began brightly and showed great fitness, skill and determination to lead by 2:01 to 1 point at half time.

The second half saw Holy Cross take advantage of the breeze to mount a fight back but the Scoil Mhuire boys played as a unit, backing each other up at every chance and producing some great football to earn a deserved victory on a scoreline of Scoil Mhuire 4:03  to Holy Crosses 1:09.

After the game, team captain, Fergus Donnelly accepted the trophy on behalf of the team.

All at Scoil Mhuire are immensely proud of the full panel, who all played their part in a great championship this year.

Credit Union Quiz News.

Scoil Mhuire students compete in National Credit Union Quiz Final
On Sunday April 7th our Senior team travelled to the RDS in Dublin to compete in the final of the All Ireland quiz. They had previously competed in Dungarvan and then at Chapter level in Waterford to reach the final. Some very tough quiz questions were faced during the final and while we didn’t win, we all had a great day. Mrs. Geraldine Barry and Mrs. Sheelagh McGrath travelled to Dublin along with parents and team members. A special recognition must go to the pupils who trained so hard over several months to reach the final and indeed to their parents who helped so much. A big thank you to Mrs. Barry who coached the team, making out questions and training them at lunch time and over the holidays. We’re already looking forward to next year’s competition!

Lachlainn and Ronan wear County Colours.

Pictured are Lochlainn Hurney and Ronan Sullivan who recently represented Waterford in the Primary Game.

Ronan lined out for the footballers in Fraher Field on April 7th against Tipperary and Lochlainn lined out for the hurlers against Cork in Walsh Park on April 21st.

Both boys acquitted themselves very well and enjoyed representing their county on the big stage. All at Scoil Mhuire are very proud of both boys, maith sibh buachaillí!

They are new to competition tennis so there has been great excitement when results have gone their way. They all play at the local Causeway Tennis Club under the watchful eye of their coach Shelly Mernin.
Their next match will be in Middleton on May 8th and there they might qualify for the Munster Finals which will be held on May 22nd. Best of luck to the team from all the pupils, staff and parents at Scoil Mhuire.
