Welcome to our new Lollipop Lady.

All at Scoil Mhuire extend a Céad Míle Fáilte to Tracy our New lollipop Lady who joined us recently.

We thank all our parents and childminders for cooperating with her and ensuring our children are dropped off and collected safely.

Hurling and Camogie

Our hurling and camogie teams have had a great campaign this term competing very well against our the neighbouring schools. They played the Western semi final of Cumann na mBunscol League today in Cappoquin.  Both teams played well in wet conditions but lost out to 2 very strong Lismore teams.

Congratulations to Bunscoil Bhothar na Naomh on their two victories.

Credit Union Quiz.

Congratulations to the Scoil Mhuire U11, Credit Union Quiz Team who represented us in the Irish League of Credit Unions  National Quiz Final in the RDS on Sunday April 19th.  The four children were very well prepared thanks to the fantastic coaching by Ms Walsh.  Our team performed very well and finished among the top ten teams of Ireland. Maith sibh!

School Tennis.

The Scoil Mhuire Tennis team played in the knockout, last 16 phase of the Munster Championship with a home match against  Scoil Iósaf Naofa, Ballintemple. The individual matches were very close with one match going down to a tie break. Unfortunately, the Cork team came away with the victory.

This was our first time in the Mixed Team league where there are players who play tennis as their main sport. We were delighted to have gone so far in the competition. Our thanks to Shelly Mernin, the club coach at Causeway Tennis Club and the committee there for all their support, guidance and the use of the facilities for matches.

Science on the Beach.

Third class had a busy day of learning at the beach recently. Tina Keating from Heritage in Schools provided a rich and comprehensive day of learning for our pupils. We are privileged to have the use of such a marvellous amenity so near us.

Fire Officers Visit.

Four  members of Dungarvan Fire Service visited recently to do a Fire Safety Workshop for third class. This highly engaging presentation was very informative for pupils. Their aim is the raise awareness of the importance of fire prevention in the home. Many thanks to Stephen, Andy, Brian and Thomas for their visit.

Rugby Coaching.

April has been a wonderful month for the boys and girls of third class who have been enjoying sessions of rugby coaching with Dungarvan Rugby Club. This takes place in our school field and will culminate in a rugby blitz in the Rugby club in May. Watch this space for more!

Table Tennis.

Mr O’ Dea has organised very enjoyable sessions of after school table tennis in our school hall.  Sixth class are the honoured ones who have been given this option on Mondays and Wednesdays. This will continue through term 3.
